Addiction is a disorder of the brain’s reward system which arises through transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms and occurs over time from chronically high levels of exposure to an addictive stimulus.
Addictions can cause all sorts of problems in a person’s life. They can be responsible for chronic health conditions (or death), financial problems, loss of employment, loss of your home, loss of friends, family and loved ones and total loss of self-esteem. Quitting an addiction is not easy, but with hypnotherapy we can utilise your motivations, change any beliefs you hold in relation to the addiction at a profound level (i.e. from ‘I’m a smoker’ to ‘I’m a non-smoker’), change the way you think and feel about the thing you’re addicted to and take back control of your life permanently.
The key thing with hypnotherapy for additions though is that you must really want it to work. If you’re thinking of quitting because of pressure from a partner or any other reason than YOU want to quit, then hypnotherapy will most likely not be able to create that change within you. However if you’re a smoker, take drugs, gamble or have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol and you have really reached the point that you feel you absolutely must quit your addiction, to take back control of your life, then hypnotherapy can help.
